After a well couple of day’s holiday for the Galungan celebration we all go back to our daily life routine. With our fresh mind, body and spirit we look forward to begin all activities. But then something struck Kabonfootprint like a thunder bold. What an unpleasant surprise. There is a Trojan virus on my computer.

Gosh this is really not what I am looking forward to find when getting ready back to work. Why? Tell me why this has to happen to me…? Really thought that with the entire antivirus and anti spyware installed, my Kabonfootprint viruses prove computer is safe. But this could still happen. Please take this as a warning. You are never safe from those Trojans.

Now I have to spend my weekend cleaning this mess up and hope to safe my precious documents in my hard drives. Really ruin my weekend plans to just hang out at the beach being lazy and walk around doing my Kabon partying. Curse those virus makers.

So what is a Trojan Virus?

To be able to fight it, first we have to know what it is. So found out some article with the definition of Trojans as:

Trojans are programs that has been designed to appear innocent but has been intentionally designed to cause some malicious activity or to provide a backdoor to your system.

While the definition of a Virus is:

Viruses are computer programs with the sole purpose of destroying data on our computers. The virus may only destroy unimportant files, or it may decide to erase all of your document files. A virus can cause an infected computer to do funny things on certain dates, as well as issue serious commands such as erasing our Registry file, thus disabling the operation and booting up of our computers.

Ok, so how can it be on Kabonfootprint’s computer?

A Trojan virus is full of as much trickery as the mythological Trojan virus it was named after. The Trojan virus, at first glance will appear to be useful software but will actually do damage once installed or run on your computer.  Those on the receiving end of a Trojan virus are usually tricked into opening them because they appear to be receiving legitimate software or files from a legitimate source.  Can it be coming with all the spam emails that I have been receiving lately?

When a Trojan is activated on your computer, the results can vary. Some Trojans are designed to be more annoying than malicious (like changing your desktop, adding silly active desktop icons) or they can cause serious damage by deleting files and destroying information on your system. Just like on my computer it changed my lovely Kabonfootprint photo that used to be the wallpaper into a horrible looking warning sign.

The Risk

Trojans are also known to create a backdoor on your computer that gives malicious users access to your system, possibly allowing confidential or personal information to be compromised. Unlike viruses and worms, Trojans do not reproduce by infecting other files nor do they self-replicate.

Ok, I am infected, what should I do?

I have been Googling to find a solution on how to clean this problem. I have used many different antivirus programs from AVG, McAfee and Symantec. Some anti spyware like Spy Doctor and Ad Aware. I have also tried to clean the registry using the safe mode. But nothing seems to help.

Now I am just sick of it and all my plans are ruin. Running out of time and perhaps I just need to reinstall my whole computer operation system just to make sure. Need to be really sure that Trojan is not leaving any footprint in my system that might haunt me again one day soon. Hard work, but it has to be done.

Protection in the Future

Have learn my lesson and in order to protect myself from this happening again it is important that take proper care and precautions when using my computer. I have to make sure my antivirus and spyware removal software running and updated at anytime, all the latest updates to my operating system, a firewall, and only open attachments or click on popups that I know are safe. No more silly email attachments.

Crazy Idea

So just a personal thought, somebody must have created this Trojan virus. Perhaps when I am running out of things to do, I will make my own Kabonfootprint virus and spread it to the world. Then everybody will take about Kabon the creator of this scary and dangerous virus. Huahahahaha :)
