There are so many myth going around now days and it includes also some SEO myth. By joining the sulumits retsambew we wanted to try all these myths and find out if it is true or just an urban legend.
Myth Test No 1
You have to submit your url to search engines to be indexed. People once said this is a must, this could have been the “in” thing. Now days we don’t trust it anymore. We never submit anything, we even do not know where to submit it and yet our site is indexed.
Myth Test No 2
To gain top position on Google, you have to use Google sitemap. This is partially true. However, if you have your website structure planned, you hardly need a sitemap.
Myth Test No 3
You should update your site as often as possible to rank high. This is not true. As it will only bring the search engine spiders more often to your site, but does not mean that your site will rank higher. Just update your site when it is necessary. The main reason to update should also be your visitor, not the search engine spider.
Myth Test No 4
If I do not follow Google guidelines, they will ban my website. Google’s guide are common sense but not a must. You are better of when you read them, however just don’t purely do things for search engines and you’ll be ok. Read some of the Google Webmaster material today.
Myth Test No 5
H1 tag is a must and you will be on top. Wrong, there is no prove of this. Although H1 is important, but there are sites that rank great without H tags.
